Devon’s success in printer ink recycling

In recent years, there has been a huge national drive by councils to encourage recycling and to implement effective recycling systems in residential areas. One such area where this was particularly effective is Teignbridge in South Devon. However, proposed changes to rubbish collection services in Torbay have sparked criticism from the residents.

Local residents are currently using separate recycling bins for items such as printer ink cartridges, paper, and food waste.

A council environmental services representative argues that the area’s recycling system is a “win-win situation”. He added, “If this new system can be made to work, then it is a real benefit to the environment, taking away poisonous waste from landfill sites.”

About recycling, a local resident said, “There's a lot of public support for recycling now and people have grown to like the idea and have started to demand more recycling facilities."
