Choosing the right printing supplies is one of the keys to efficiency in a high volume printing environment. HP offers two great ways to save time, money and hassle. Firstly, HP’s high-yield cartridges offer a 10-35% cost per page advantage over their standard cartridges, and you change cartridges less often. Also, stretching your printing budget with an HP dual pack (which are cartridges sold together) give you an average of 10% savings.
Technology that is designed to perform also lowers operating costs, cuts paper use and saves time. It’s all the more reason you can count on HP.

Printer Ink Information

Here at The Printer Ink Supermarket we love printer ink and we want you to love it too. That’s why we offer one of the most complete ranges of printer ink cartridges, toner and drums available. Now you may think that all printer ink cartridges are the same, that one printer ink cartridge is exactly the same as any other. In fact many of us lack the knowledge needed about these items. That’s where The Printer Ink Supermarket comes in with our easy three stage ordering process. With out three step printer ink ordering process all you need to know is the make and model number of your printer and we will do the rest. We will show you not only the manufacturer printer ink available for your machine, but also the third party ink manufacturers that may be much cheaper and just as good, so by saving you money. However you may still want to know more about printer ink cartridges and we can help with that too. We know that many people want to know more if only for peace of mind and to make sure that they are in fact getting what they need at the correct price. Common Printer Ink Cartridge Types Inkjet printer ink cartridges hold liquid ink, typically black, and shades of magenta, cyan and yellow. Black is normally supplied in its own cartridge whereas colours are often combined in a single printer ink cartridge. However separate colour printer ink cartridges are available depending on your type of printer. Printer ink cartridges are actually quite complicated pieces of engineering with microchips that communicate with the printer to control flow and inform on ink reserves. Laser toner ink cartridges contain dry ink which is printed by electrically charging particles onto your paper. Laser toner printer ink is available in both black and coloured. All colors are combined in one toner cartridge. Many office machines tend to be just mono printers as this offer the best cost savings and efficiencies. Lifespan of laser toner printer ink cartridges is directly related to the number of pages you print but tends to be much greater than that of inkjet printer ink cartridges. Laser toner cartridges contain dry ink, a photoreceptor, a waste toner bottle, and blades. Other Printer Ink Cartridges Available Solid printer ink toners are normally used in photocopiers but can be found in other printers as well. They work by meting the ink stick and using the meted material to print onto the page. It is claimed that this produces improved colour quality and less environmental impact due to the lower amounts of waster produced. Dye sublimation cartridges are normally only used in textile printing. The printer ink cartridge is a film and ink is transferred to the surface contact by heat. Only one color can be printed at a time and the process repeated with different coloured films until a final image has been produced. Traditional and Old Fashioned Printer Ink Cartridges Daisy wheel cartridges are used in traditional typewriters. A ribbon impregnated with ink, normally black or sometime red is spun between two opposite wheels. When you strike the keys of the typewriter this forces a hammer towards the ribbon. On the hammer is the character you wish to type, it picks up the ribbon and the force of impact leaves an ink mark on the paper in the shape of the character. Dot matrix cartridges operate in a similar way to a daisy wheel cartridge, but with ribbon run along the length of the cartridge instead. The ribbon is placed in front of the print head, as the print head moves forward it picks up the ink and the impact marks the page with the ink. If you need more information on printer ink, laser toner or any info on printing head over to our FAQ’s or Articles section where you will find even more help.

We all know that printer ink cartridges can be a bit pricey; sometimes it’s cheaper to buy a new printer than to just replace the ink cartridge! However, if you find that your ink cartridges run out a lot sooner than you would have hoped, your printer ink may have just dried out, due to it’s lack of use. Over the long term, this can cost you a lot of money. This article tells you how to store your printer ink cartridges to keep them in tip-top condition. Enjoy!

Counterfeit cartridges leak into the market

Did you know that counterfeit cartridges cost cartridge manufacturers around £4 billion a year?! On top of the immediate financial costs, there is also damage to the manufacturers’ reputation for providing reliable, high quality goods? Counterfeit cartridges lead end-users to believe that is it is a branded good, and charge a high price for it, so if anything goes wrong, the customers will blame the branded cartridge manufacturer. This loss of trust in the brand can be detrimental to any business, as they are unlikely to buy again from a seemingly unreliable manufacturer. Try and buy cartridges from authorized suppliers, and if you are suspicious of any cartridge, report it to the manufacturer of the original cartridge (i.e. HP, Canon, Epson etc).

What to do?!
Well, I came across a forum the other day that supposedly had a tried and tested solution. Apparently, you’re meant to grab the nearest bottle of nail polish remover and spray it all over the ink stain(s). Then, use loads of paper napkins/towels to wipe away the stains. You’ll notice (to your great relief!) that the stain will begin to visibly come out onto the paper towels. Repeat this process 4/5 times and the stain should gradually disappear (wahey!). Finally, you should use some shaving cream to wash the stain again. Your carpet should now look almost as good as new.

Green is the new black
After reading this article, I encouraged everyone I knew to use recycled/refilled ink cartridges. I particularly recommended ARMOR cartridges to them as they are particularly environmentally friendly. Not only is all their manufacturing waste re-injected back into the production process, but they also strive to use recycled and recyclable packaging wherever they can. Contrary to popular belief that compatible cartridges void your printer warranty, ARMOR assures me that this is definitely not the case with their cartridges! On top of this, ARMOR guarantee that they’ll cover the cost of a replacement printer or computer repairs if it’s been proven that their cartridge has caused the damage. What more could you want?!

How to destroy your printer

I have a friend who is absolutely, totally and utterly determined to find the cheapest deal ever for everything he buys - especially when he thinks he's being ripped off by 'big corporates' (his words). Now, we all like to quote the classic "printer ink is as expensive as gold" line and it may or may not be true, but when it comes to finding the cheapest option for re-filling your printer, there are certainly some things you shouldn't do. Unless you want to destroy your printer that is. Here's what he discovered. Apparently, you can get some bulk ink off the Internet for a fraction of the cost of a refill cartridge, but how to get it in the printer? Easy, a small incision with a tiny screw he bought from B&Q - doddle. Actually, not so much of a doddle. At first he made a mess of the kitchen floor when the ink went everywhere (mental note - don't squeeze the bottle) and then when he plugged the hole he made in the cartridge with a bit of Blu-tack (not sure that was in the instructions) and placed it back in the printer, the smudges that spread themselves across the paper overflowed into the mechanics. Anyway, it would have cost him £15 to replace his black ink, it ended up costing him £120 for a new printer. He's a great mate, but I did laugh a bit. If you really want to save money, then check out replacement ink rather than trying to drill and fill your own, seriously, you could actually save a lot of money. Replacement inks are made to some incredibly exacting standards - and you won't ruin the kitchen floor either.
